All the End of Year stuff you need to know

Hey friends

It’s now just three weeks until we close for the holidays – eeeeeekkk – so we’ve got a bunch of end of year stuff to tell you about this week. Get into it below!

WSP Christmas Party!

We're getting together on Tuesday the 17th of December at 5.30pm for our annual Christmas Party and you're invited! Everyone is welcome, feel free to bring the family!

Our traditional Stealy-Secret-Santa game will take place again – for those who want to join in, please bring a small, wrapped gift. Handmade is nice, a piece of pottery is great, but any little treat is fab!

And we'll share a kai, so if you can, please bring some food to share. Juice and soft drinks provided. BYO alcohol welcome, but please drink responsibly and make sure you can get home safely.

Of course, this means there’s no Play with Clay on the 17th, come celebrate the fantastic year that we’ve had at WSP instead!

Annual Working Bee

Friday 20th December, 10am - 4pm.

It's the time of year again when we have our big clean-up and get a bit of maintenance done around the studio, so we're all set for a fresh new year.

This year we'll be concentrating on clearing out the kitchen and foyer area, as we'll be having the walls painted and the concrete floor ground and polished over the holiday period. Flaaaash!

We'd be ever so grateful if you could spare some time to help us move everything out and then prep the walls for the painting.

Whether you can come for the day, or just an hour or two, we'd be thrilled to receive your help. If you can lend a hand, please sign-up on the sheet in the foyer, or online.

Out with the Old, In with the New

Before the working bee we’ll be doing a thorough (and strict!) clear out of the wet cupboards, drying shelves, bisque shelves and finished work. Please do make time to come and collect your work, or move it through the firing process before the 19th of December!

In particular, please note that we will be completely emptying the wet cupboards before the break, so the work and batts aren’t sitting in there going mouldy. If you have pieces in there, please do finish them off and put them through for firing, or take them home before the 19th December.

Last Kids Play with Clay for 2024

The last Kids PWC session for this year is next week on Wednesday the 4th of December.

These will start up again next year, during our teaching terms on Wednesday’s from 4pm – 5.30pm. The first session for 2025 will be on the 5th of February.

Last Raku Firing for 2024

Get your Raku on at the last firing of the year, on Saturday the 7th of December, 10am - 2pm.

David Kenny will be firing up the kiln again, so you can come and join in, get involve and get some of that crackly, metallic raku-goodness!

Get more info and sign-up here.

Fair Enough’s Mākete Kirihimete

Check out this awesome Chrissy Market on tomorrow in Garden Place, Kirikiriroa. Several of our members will have stalls there and there’s live music as well. Bound to be a good time!
