We have an opportunity for the right person to join our team as manager at the Waikato Society of Potters in central Kirikiriroa/Hamilton. We are seeking someone with experience in operations management or office management to join our assistant manager, volunteers, and tutors in the smooth running of the studio.

Directly responsible to: The Chairperson of the Committee

Part time – (26 hours)
Negotiated weekdays between the hours of 9.30-4pm
$28 - $33 per hour (dependant on experience)
Key responsibilities
You’ll get to work closely with the assistant manager and committee on a variety of pottery related projects. Your key responsibilities will include:
Financial management, annual budget reports, invoicing, receipt payments, managing a cash float
Identify, research and develop new grant funding opportunities and submit all grant applications on time and to a high standard
Management of diploma and tutors to ensure that delivery, teaching and health and safety is in line with Otago Polytechnic requirements
Monthly reporting to the committee
Customer service
Work alongside the assistant manager to ensure various tasks including classes, workshops and events run smoothly
Skills and experience:
The ideal person for this role will be able to confidently communicate and manage the best interests of the Waikato Society of Potters. Ideally you will have:
Previous success/experience in grants funding
Experience in management - preferably in a not-for-profit/ charity space, however not necessary
The ability to work independently
The ability to meet deadlines, work well under pressure and within budget
Solid writing and communication skills
A focus on including a diverse range of people and offerings to members
Knowledge of health and safety procedures

The ‘WSP’ is a members-based studio that has been operating in the Waikato for over 50 years. The studio services a diverse range of potters and artists with classes, workshops, member’s sessions, events, and the Otago Polytechnic Diploma in Ceramic Arts (DipCA).
